BRICS took shape in September 2006 and it originally comprised Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC). It was renamed BRICS after South Africa was accepted as a full member in September 2010. The grouping has become a 10-nation body now with Egypt, Ethiopia, IthatSaudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joining it as new members.
The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a parent organization which promotes commerce and industry in the BRICS nations. BRICS CCI is a not-for-profit organization, that serves as a beacon of economic collaboration among BRICS+ nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. It fosters an environment where businesses can thrive, innovate, and expand through various initiatives, forums, and networking opportunities. Over the past decade, BRICS CCI has expanded significantly, opening new chapters, welcoming a large number of members, and forging numerous strategic cooperation agreements with esteemed organizations. BRICS CCI is a catalyst for economic synergy and entrepreneurial spirit, fostering a collaborative ecosystem where businesses can flourish and contribute to the global economy.
The objective of BRICS CCI is to create an enabling support system, especially for the MSME segment of businesses, young entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, and Start-Ups from across all geographies. While the BRICS nations will remain at the centre of all activities, the chamber has taken in its credo to reach out to and enable young entrepreneurs from other friendly nations too. It proposes to be the ‘voice’ of entrepreneurs and helps them cultivate their business with due regard to social, cultural and security issues.
